No more sharp knife for me

So my dear friend Heatherann thought I didn't have a good sharp knife and gave me one for my birthday last year. I have to say I have loved using it but have cut myself to many times with it. My latest cut tops them all. I was quickly trying to cut up potatoes to put in the crock pot before church yesterday when the potato slipped and I cut my finger. Luckily the knife turned and I only sliced open my finger nail about half way down the nail. Their was so much nail pulled away from the finger that I almost got sick. So what do you do with a nail that is very needed but not doing it's job? You go and get acrylic nails put on top. It has saved me alot of pain and looks so pretty to boot. I do love the fake nails but would recommend just getting them on not waiting for an accident to make you do it.

My favorite time of day

After the sleep has been rubbed from the eyes, hair put in it's right place, the perfect cloths put on and a good breakfast eaten. After the hustle and bustle of getting 5 kids ready for the day we set out for our 1/2 mile walk to school. This is my favorite time of the day. The girls are so happy and lively. They love to tell me all their happenings on this walk. I can ask them after school how the day was and I get the generic "It was good" answer, but the next day on our walk I get the ends and outs of how life really is for them. I cherish these moments. I look forward to many more years of these precious times.
Kinamo Jr. is now in middle school and has to ride the bus. I miss him walking with us.

Happy Birthday Kinamo

Today Kinamo celebrated his 37th birthday. How is it that the time flies by so fast? He was just 24 when we met. He still looks 24 to me.
He needed a new cell phone with bluetooth so that's what he got for his birthday. Also the kids made balloons out of construction paper and taped it to the front door so when he came home Friday he could see they were thinking of his special day.

Ice Skating in TEXAS?

Haley and Karley have been taking ice skating lessons. They love it. I have been so impressed with how fast they have picked it up. To bad there are no frozen ponds for them to play on.

Tumor Update

Karley saw the Ear specialist yesterday. Dr. King explained to me that Karley has a small defect in her ear behind the ear drum. This defect allowed infection and tissue to collect there which caused her first tumor. Then maybe even one cell was left after the tumor was removed and now it has grown again into another tumor. So the plan is on Nov 19 she will go in and remove the tumor and surrounding tissue, fix the defect with cartilage from her outer ear and put the ear back together. Then in six months go back in and check for any left behind cells. If they find them they will be removed and she shouldn't get another tumor. So besides having two surgery's ahead of us it was good news that this should be the fix.

Say Cheese

Joey came in my room holding the camera saying "Cheese". So I took a few pictures of him. I guess he doesn't want to be left out. Joey and I have really enjoyed our time together while the kids are in school. He is so happy and easy going that whatever we do he is happy with. After 5 months of Kinamo working away all week Joey know Fridays are when dad gets home. All day Friday he walked around the house saying "Daddy". I took him to the store and he kept saying and looking for Daddy. Finally I pulled out the cell phone and let him talk to daddy while I shopped. Later that afternoon Joey sat on the window ledge by the front door looking out for daddy. He was in the middle of dinner when Kinamo came home. He pushed his plate away and pulled on the high chair straps to get free so he could run outside to see daddy. He sure loves his daddy.

What must the neighbors think?

We are working on our emergency preparedness. So we bought 3 55gallon water barrels. We filled them with bleach and water and put the kids in charge of rolling them to get them nice and clean. They had so much fun and we got a few interesting looks for the neighbors.

Need Help

So I took the kids to the pool today and on the long walk home (4 whole blocks) Karley just 7 years old states out loud that she wishes ------ was her mom. I am not stating the name to protect the Innocent. So how would you or have you moms handled that. I am sure you great moms haven't had this happen, but I found out even the best moms go unappreciated. I am also sure I didn't handle this the best way I could have. Any advice?
